Normally I work out of Sussex and the South East. However, I am prepared to travel all over the country and indeed the world, should I be asked! Anyone getting married by the Med soon? I digress. Wednesday the 8th of August saw me journey up to photograph a wedding in St Helens near Liverpool to photograph Jeff and Rachel getting married at the Registry Office there.
Wedding in St Helens
It’s a 5 hour drive from Sussex, which I spent mainly listening to the Olympics coverage of BBC Five Live. I stayed at my mother’s house on Tuesday night to save on hotel bills and made my way over to the wedding in St Helens the next morning. The registry office building is a new looking building which lacks a little character. However, it’s not the building that matters but the people getting married. Jeff and Rachel could not have been nicer. Rachel was fashionably late arriving 10 minutes after the wedding was due to begin. She blamed her hair and the traffic!
Stumbling over Wedding Vows
The ceremony was memorable for the not uncommon verbal fumbling over the marriage vows, which Jeff and Rachel laughed off to their credit. There is a small courtyard outside the building where we took the majority of pictures. Unfortunately Rachel’s son remained asleep for the entire wedding so we missed his cheeky grin in the photographs. It was a very warm day so it’s not surprising he and others were lethargic under the sun! In general the images have come out very well and I have already had an email from Rachel to say she has viewed the wedding photographs online and loves them. Hooray!
The journey back down to Sussex was uneventful, with the usual queues on the M6 and the M25 and two stops for latte! I don’t often work out of Sussex, but I am very happy to do so.
